Bandar Seri Begawan - Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah is currently holding an art exhibition at the college's Art room.
Organised by the Art-Department, the exhibition displays the work of upper six students to parents and teachers from other schools to showcase their talents and motivate them to put extra effort towards perfecting their skills.
The exhibition is the third of its kind held in consecutive years which brings together various types of artwork, including self portraits and the environment. The exhibition will last for two days.
According to Armachester Arshad, the teacher in charge, "As soon as the exhibition ends, the artwork will be shipped out to the United Kingdom as part of the students' coursework which will be examined by Cambridge for the upcoming `A' levels which the students are currently preparing for."
Katherine Hick, HOD of the Art and Design Department, said the exhibition is also a stage where the students can display their creative abilities and imagination, as well as showing the processes involved in making the artwork.
Such is the lasting impression that these exhibitions leave on the students that after leaving the school, some former students would come by and support the exhibition. One such student was Syazana Akmal bin Ahmad Al-Shokry.
Syazana who won last year's Best Student award in Maktab Duli is at the moment a part time teacher and is currently awaiting a scholarship to the UK.
She said that she had participated in last year's exhibition in which she had crafted a self-portrait and got 2nd place among the artwork displayed and thought that the exhibition was a good platform to show ones work to the public in general. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
