Analogue Digital Practices

First year doing BA Hons Fine art in Winchester School
of Art has completely changed my mindset and has actually lowered my
self-esteem. Throughout my college years doing Art and Design, I was awarded as
one of the best art student in Brunei Darussalam and was never used to low
marks. Back then, I was different and special, I was the only one who dared to
try different things and make it big. As soon as I arrive in Winchester School
of Art, everything has changed, it was as if everyone started on a certain
foundation that I totally missed out, I was just plain and boring, but this is
not a bad impact at all as I learnt how to compete, fit in and be more
original. I tend to get out of my comfort zone and take risks to try different
things. It has made me more competitive and wiser in term of taking criticisms.
I also managed to learn how to stand on my ground and debate about my artworks;
verbal self-defence has been a key to a successful artwork. I think artworks
are meant to be debateable and if it is not, than it would not create any value to it.
ADP was the module I didn’t enjoy as much because Photoshop and myself don’t mix well. However
I managed. My ADP was about the techniques used to produce a more “graphic” clean image. Though,
this module helps me a lot in a way of experimenting and discovering different styles.
