Magazine Supplement ProjectTheme: Homeless for 8 Magazine
Using Indesign to design a magazine supplement layout was the last thing I wish I would do but instead I actually enjoyed it and hoping to use it more often especially for my current project of designing a book based on a feature film called Pink Elephant by Indie 24. For this magazine supplement, I have chosen the theme "home" for 8 Magazine, which is a photographic based magazine. I have always been passionate about photographs and used to go for outings with my mates back at home in Brunei. I stemmed the idea of homeless instead from the theme home and throughout the supplement I was trying to define homeless one-way another. Like a disease, lomography was widely used and I decided to find out all the fuss about it and actually fell in love with it. With my CMYK Diana F+, I went for random outings and also took my Canon 450D with me. This project was quite personal to me as it was mostly affected by my situation of being away from home. My initial idea was caravan mobiles which is to me another way of saying making home anywhere.

Mr.Courageous is back to basics
“When you’re poor and homeless, one may own nothing, but one’s vital posession is his or her hope and spirit, even though one would just have to live under a roof of cloud between walls of cold gust.”

Mr.Runaway is home at a distance
“Home is a place you grow up wanting to leave, and grow old wanting to get back to. Home... hard
to say where it is now but I know I am directing myself there and that is what hurts the most.”

Mr.Homesick is world apart
“I may not be poor nor homeless, but I feel so. Sharing warmth and laughter with friends is a feeling that is the closest to being home.”

The Charade
“If it makes any sense at all, just like a caravan mobile, we build our home anywhere possible, and like hypocrites, we pretend to have a blissful life.”
